A pizza place, breweries, a coffee and wine bar and a bed and breakfast are interested in opening up in Boynton Beach, specifically in the historic Ruth Jones cottage and Oscar Magnuson home.
But it's up to the Boynton Community Redevelopment Agency board to decide. The CRA in November hired Tony Prakas and entered into listing agreements for the Ocean Avenue sites. All proposals were due in February and the board is expected to pick one at tonight's CRA meeting.
Proposals for 480 E. Ocean Ave. (Ruth Jones cottage): Little Pizza Shack; Three Horns Brewing Company; Non-Prophet Brewing Co. and Johnnie Brew's MicroRoastery.
Proposals for 211 E. Ocean Ave. (Oscar Magnuson home): La Piazzetta Market & Grill and a bed and breakfast.
Also, Bruce Kaplan has offered to buy the two properties and pay the CRA $550,000 in total.
The CRA staff is recommending the board go with Kaplan, according to CRA documents.
Staff believes the price could be increased, and said Kaplan said he will lease to businesses on the list above. Another reason staff recommends the board choose Kaplan is so the CRA would no longer be a landlord.
"The private sector is better at being a landlord," the documents say.
