BOYNTON BEACH — The historic Oscar Magnuson House at 211 Ocean Ave. is one step closer to becoming a restaurant.
This past month Boynton Beach commissioners approved a new site plan for the property which includes adding 1,266 square feet to the existing 1,500-square-foot building, built in 1919.
Ocean Avenue Pride LLC is in contract with the Community Redevelopment Agency to buy the site. The company had 45 days from mid-August to close on the property.
Once converted, the restaurant will have 183 seats. Other proposed changes or additions include, according to city documents: a bocce ball court on the north side; fire pits on the north and east sides; new light fixtures and painting; re-establishing a front porch, and the addition of a covered patio/outdoor dining area on the east side.
This is one of two historic Ocean Avenue homes that will be developed into restaurants.
The Ruth Jones Cottage at 480 E. Ocean Ave. is to be a tapas restaurant run by the owner of The Living Room, on Congress Avenue in Boynton. Before this, it was home to the Little House tavern and cafe.
